Bible Lesson 228

GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF CONFUSION

1ST CORINTHIANS 14:33

Can anyone argue that the visible church of our day is not in a state of confusion. The church is confused; because it’s leadership has in many cases been confused about the truth of the Gospel. Look at the people who occupy the pews of our numerous congregations. They are not saved but they are confused, as far as knowing the truth.

They are half baked, cakes that have not been turned. They have heard so many different opinions about what it is that saved a person that they really believe that God does not really make a difference in those whom He truly saves.

They have not heard that they were born lost and under the wrath of God (Ephesians 2:1-3.). They have not heard that salvation includes a New Birth, that work of God that creates a new and vastly different person and personality in those who are the handiwork of God. (Ephesians 2:8-10).

They have been encouraged to remain sinners who have been told that they were saved but know nothing about God or His adopted children.

A great many of our churches today are led by good men who, sadly do not know the truth that sets sinners free and creates a person who can and will live above sin.

They have bought into the church-growth idea that points to salvation by walking an aisle, shaking a preacher’s hand and joining a church group. That my brothers and sisters has nothing to do with salvation. Joining a church make you a church-member; becoming a Christians requires a work of God on and in the life of any person.

You who are yoked with Christ and working with Christ to ‘Go into all the world and teach people about Christ and teaching them to obey all that He has commanded. (Matthew 28:19-20).

About the only thing that we learn in most places is how to answer Biblical question that are sometimes asked of those who have been taught the answers but not been taught the depth of the question and why it should be asked. We have learned the church game, and more often than not that game is played to increase membership in a particular church. Ask yourself, and answer honestly, what would you say if you were asked to make a profession of your faith. There are many who have no idea what salvation is about.

They don’t know or understand why salvation is necessary, what it cost God to save anyone, and how salvation effects the life and walk of those to whom God extends His Grace. Apparently, they do not know the difference between a sinner and a Saint. Probably, some who will read this article don’t know either. I can tell you for sure there are many professing Christians who reject the idea of Sainthood. They have never been instructed in the Gospel and how it effects those who are saved.

I don’t know where people get this idea that all salvation is about is turning over a new leaf or being a little better than they have been before. They have never been informed that God has them under His wrath from the time that they are born, because they have a nature that loves to sin, and they have proven that they have that nature by the way they live. We are all born dead in trespass and sin, under the wrath of God, with out help or hope unless and until God calls us out of the worldly life style, unto His Gracious and Merciful new birth.

Just as surely as we were born from our mother’s womb, we required a supernatural rebirth from God in true salvation. Just as surely as we had no part in our natural birth, we have no part in our supernatural rebirth. Salvation is all of God, who is the source of all power. He who created all that we know in this world and even more than we have never even considered, can and will save those who were elected for salvation before the world was created (Ephesians 1:1-14).

Can you look back to a time in your life where you knew that God had called you to come out of sin and into His Family’ If you can’t, you can begin to study about God by reading His Book, the Bible. Remember we are saved by Grace through Faith and the Bible tells us that “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). Are you afraid of hearing what God has to say to you’ If so you are not the first nor will you be the last person to fear looking at themselves in the light of God.

Remember when Moses was on the Mountain with God and God spoke where the people in the valley below could hear, they never wanted to hear Him speak to them again, they asked Moses to hear God and then speak what God had said, to them. Most sinners find themselves close to that, but we must come out of the darkness of sin into the light of God and in the presence of His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, and look at our sorry condition before our Creator. Some like to think that they had never done much bad and that may be so, but they were going to the same hell that is occupied by all sinners, from Hitler to everyone who has not been adopted into His Family.

If you have read this lesson up to this point, you are responsible before God, and if you miss heaven because you never saw yourself as the chief of sinners, you are a prime candidate for hell, and all of its torments for eternity. Many sinners attempt to disallow the Bible, but that is impossible.

Your word and your desire to disbelieve only make the Bible more precious. You could take you Bible or all the Bibles in the world and bury them thousands of feet below the ocean, and it would not change one iota of God’s Word, by which you will be judged. The Bible is inerrant but more that than that, the Bible is infallible. It is not only absolutely correct, it cannot be wrong in anything. (2nd Peter 1:16-21)

The world and the Church have been so closely tied to one another that when we look at the church, we see the world, and when we look at the world, we see the church. That did not happen yesterday or last week, it has been ongoing for decades. First, churches began to be competitive with one another, then they began to practice one-up man ship.

If one church got a huge Choir, the other ones wanted the same and began to reach for that. If one church got a preacher with any letters behind his name, all others wanted that kind of preacher. Churches stopped being led by God called men, and instead they all began to ‘call’ their brand of preacher. One who fit their idea of themselves. Now, we find ourselves happily going to hell but looking good and doing our thing, which is the devils thing.

I realize that everybody thinks that they have exactly what God wants them to have and there are many good preachers who do preach at least close to the Bible. But close is not good enough, except in horse-shoes or hand grenades. The root of our problem is that we refuse to really examine ourselves by the Word of God. (2nd Corinthians 13:5).

You may; and I hope you will ask, what must we do’ What we must do is to study the Bible to make sure we know God’s will, and then strive to conform to it. Give up this business about being the one who knows everything without knowing God’s will for your life and dying to self and taking up the cross that God has for you.

Until next time,

may God bless and keep you
