Bible Lesson 243

Jesus and you.

“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2

It is pathetic to know the Word of God and to see how little most people in the church, know of it and care about it. Somehow, we have been conditioned to take it or leave it and most then decide it is so hard to read and understand it, they simply leave it alone.

If you have ever attempted to begin a conversation with a professing Christian, you know that most have no time for it, which indicates that they do not know it or don’t care to know it.

We have been conditioned to go to a church most Sundays and sit for an hour as we are lectured to by a preacher.

If our preachers were more concerned about the souls of lost people, than they are about keeping some kind of contrived acceptance of what is preached, then we would probably begin to increase membership rather than find our congregations in many cases shrinking.

If we would really begin to preach the Word of God, we would certainly lose members because the world, which has been invited into the church, will never accept the truth of Salvation.

Sadly, what you hear from many pulpits today is that God loves you, ust the way you are. That is not what our Savior esus Christ tells us, instead He says that
“He who hath His commandments, and keeps them, is the one who loves Him and he that loves Him will be love by Him and His Father.” (ohn 14:21-23).

I am sure that is what you hear because I did not begin to preach and serve the Lord last night. Again, they (false prophets) preach that esus died for everybody; and that is put to the lie in Hebrews 5:8-9.

There can only be one reason or possibly two reasons why any man would stand between lost men and a Holy God and yet stand the Word of God on its head. They are either lost as a ball in high weeds or they are simply as God calls them ‘False prophets.’ Now if you are going to a church where you hear that kind of thing preached, my advice to you is to take it up with the pastor and refuse to sit under that kind of preaching.

There is a common phrase that is used in most churches today and that is ‘Professing Christians’; which means that someone has walked the church aisle and shook the preacher’s hand and been voted in the membership of that church. You might ask, ‘what’s wrong with that?’ Nothing if you want to have a church where it is easier to oin the church than it is to oin the boy scouts. Most churches today never have anything to do with those ‘professors’ except maybe have lunch with them. The churches ob is to teach baby Christians the word and the will of God. That is not easy, but it must be done to maintain the Church of the Living God.

Most of church service is taken up with reading a bulletin which has been handed out to all who are present, announcements, choir songs, and specials and if there is any time left for preaching it is precious little. That is the reason that we have ended up with a church which God said He would build, which is so weak that even Wednesday night baseball outranks the prayer meeting. God’s church would be one that the gates of hell could not prevail against it. How does your church stand on it, are we going after souls with a determination to prevail against you, or do you really believe there is a hell?

ust look what we have allowed to happen to the visible church which is supposed to mimic the True Church. We all read the same Bible; however, we normally do not fellowship with each other. One church believes that esus Christ loves everyone but the Bible disputes that as I showed you before. Another church may not believe that, but it is always some little item that sets apart one church from another. Perhaps we need to move away from what we would like to believe, and everyone believe what the Bible clearly says.
