Bible Lesson 245

UNDERSTANDING THE TRUTH OF GOD

THE APOSTLE JOHN TELLS US CLEARLY THAT WE CAN KNOW THE TRUTH AND THAT THE TRUTH SETS US FREE. JOHN 8:32.

This month we are in search of the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Some may say that there is no specific truth, or that it is impossible to find the truth; but that is not what God tells us in His Inerrant Word, the Holy Bible.

We can look into the eighth chapter of the Gospel of John and find that there is truth and the way to find it is possible.

What we find there in John eight is that Jesus Christ, the savior of man, tells us that if we abide, and abide there means to know the truth which is the Bible and we live and walk in the precepts of God found only in the Bible, we will be Christs disciples and we will know the truth and the truth will make us free.

That means that we who know the truth in Christ and live like Christ are free from the only tool that the devil has to use against us and that is the fear of death, hell and condemnation.

Do you know that truth that sets you free from the fear of death and hell? Certainly, you do! We are all born afraid of death and hell. What can be done about our fear? We just learned what we can do and that is the only thing that any of us can do, to break the chains of fear that the devil used to control us.

You don’t have any place to turn to except Christ and His work on the cross to show you the truth. And the base truth is that we were everyone born unfit for heaven and fit only for hell and it torments for eternity. Ephesians chapter 2, tells us that we are all born ‘dead in trespass and sin’, under the wrath of God, unless and until, God made the only way for us to be just before our Holy God. (Read Ephesians 2:1-10).

We find in those verses that we are born fit only for hell, but because God is Gracious and Merciful, He sacrificed His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ who was God in the flesh to take the place of those who would obey Him, and receive Him and His Work and Word as all that they required to be free from sin, and alive in Christ.

I would suggest to you that it is worth all the time and effort it requires to glean the truths of Gods Word, from your Bible. Your salvation is between you and God and that is how you seek salvation.

Now, many and maybe even most of our Pastors are preaching the Word and adding nothing and subtracting nothing. That helps you but you need to know the truth as God reveals it to you. The only way that you can tell is a stick is crooked or straight, is to lay a straight one down beside it; and the only way you will know if what you believe is the truth is to read it for yourself from the Word of God the Bible.

Almost truth is false, so make sure you dig deep and find the truth that is truth. Do not allow yourself to be taught error. Nothing you can do in your life on this earth is as important as you knowing the truth in Jesus Christ.

Until next time,

may God bless and keep you
