Bible Lesson 246
GOD’S AMAZING GRACE
(1ST Peter 5:5-11)
Grace means the free, unmerited, unexpected love of God, and all the benefits, delights, and comfort which flow from it. It means that while we were sinners and enemies we have been treated as sons and heirs. R.P.C. Hanson.
This month we will look at Gods Amazing Grace and what God does to and for those who are sinners under the wrath of God, when He extends His Grace to them. Grace is all of God and only God can extend Grace to others as He calls a sinner and brings new life to that person.
Grace can be described as Salvation because when God extends His Grace to any creature, that person will become a child of God and they are placed ‘in Christ’. None of us can ever live to the degree that we would be worthy of Gods Grace.
When God looked at His creation and saw that the wickedness of man was great, and that every intent of his heart was only evil continually He was sorry that He had made man. One man named Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
God gave Noah the specifications for an Ark that would save animals in pairs to repopulate the animal kingdom after the flood that was coming, and Noah and his wife and his three sons and their wives.
God was gracious to destroy His creation, since it prevented a world of evil. (Genesis 6:5-22).
The way to know God is to know His Only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, and the way that we know Jesus, is to be called by God to salvation. Gods Grace substituted His Son Jesus Christ to take the cross that sinners deserved to be nailed to and Jesus took the place of every person that will be saved as they live here on this planet.
God before the foundations of the earth, foreknew or foreloved those who will be saved in time. He did not put a mark on anyone, so we do not know those who are the elect.
Somehow, we have forgotten that God is at work in the world as we find our way one day at a time. Our Gracious God, in time calls each one that was elected or chosen, and then justifies and glorifies them.
We do not work for salvation, nor do we gain it any other way; because it is all of Grace. No one deserves it, in fact, we all deserve hell for eternity. Grace prepares us to be soldiers in Gods army. We are always protected by His Grace.
Titus, in his short book that we find, as ‘Titus’ tells us that the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age.
That brings the question that asks, are we denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, and living godly lives’ We have no excuse, because Grace is greater than sin.
Grace is wonderful, majestic, and loving; however, it is not something that we can earn, or buy or ever deserve. When we boil it all down, we will see that Grace is Jesus Himself.
Acts 4:21 instructs us that “Nor is there salvation in any other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Until next time,
may God bless and keep you
