Bible Lesson 257

WHO ARE THE SAINTS? ROMANS 1:7

“TO ALL WHO ARE IN ROME, BELOVED OF GOD, CALLED TO BE SAINTS.”

“GOD PRESERVES THE SAINTS, BUT HE DOES NOT PICKLE THEM.” Vance Havner.

This month we will be opening our Bibles to seek to understand what our position will be, if we are what we are supposed to be, if we have been under the blood of Jesus Christ. It has been said that “He who falls into sin is a man; that grieves at it is a saint; that boasteth of it, is a devil.”

This month will be painful for most of us; because we have not been brought to the knowledge that we who belong to some church, attend services there occasionally and just do the best we can to live right every day, are the  children of God; but what we have not been taught is that our daily lives should be that of a saint. The Apostle Paul teaches us that Saints are those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus called to be saints, with all who in every place call  on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord , both theirs and ours.” 1st Corinthians 1:1-2.

Paul also points out to us that his letter to the Corinthians church is addressed to those who were Saints in that church and in the area called Achaia. 2nd Corinthians 1:1-2. What is Paul referring to when He uses the term ‘Saint”? It Is not some special group that some church authority has sainted by vote; but it refers to those who have been born again and are obedient to the commands of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:1-10.  Saints are those who have won that spiritual war between the flesh and the spirit. They walk in the Spirit. Romans 8:1- 11. Saints are concerned one for another, just as Paul loved and was concerned about the church at Philippi. That love included the truth that is believed and the lives that exist in the congregation. Philippians 4:1-6. Are we who live and attend church in our time living like saints or would we laugh at anyone who would hold us to that level of obedience to God? Question yourself as you read and think about the daily thoughts concerning the Saints. Brobob is not the person asking that question of you today it is asked by our Great and Glorious God.

Our Sovereign God who created us and everything that exists knows everything, including our hearts. Things that no one else knows are clear to God.  At the Judgment seat we will all see our hearts revealed, so we need to know and control what we allow in our hearts. It would be to our benefit to pay more attention to what goes on in our hearts.

Until next time,

may God bless and keep you
