Bible Lesson 259

GOING FOR CHRIST (TITUS 2:1-15)

“But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; the older women likewise, be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things…………………..”

“Life is like a grain of wheat: to plant it is to recognize its value; to keep it is to destroy it value. The planted Christian counts life dear not unto himself but unto God.”  Vance Havner.

This month we will look into our Bibles to discover whether or not we who claim to know Christ are actually going for Him or are we simply playing that well known and worn game of playing church?  If we are, we cannot fool God, and everyone knows that we are fakers.

This month would be a good time to see if you are with Christ or if you are really against Christ. You probably may be one of the millions who have joined one of the many visible churches that abound in every community; however, you are not going with or for Christ.

Oh yes, you may make some noise that sound like Christian noise, but you know that you know nothing or say or do anything that honors Jesus Christ.

Take advantage of this month to make very sure that your anchor holds to that rock called Jesus Christ. Remember that we may fool some around us who don’t really know our lives, but God knows the truth about our lives and if we are not going with Christ, we have no connection to Christ.

That old Creature that was born to the flesh and has no eternal value must die to self and take the Yoke of Christ on ourselves. Some of you never have heard or seen a Yoke. I can see one from where I sit to write this lesson, and it is a piece of wood that was used in another age by farmers who plowed their fields with a yoke of oxen.

Our yoke, the yoke that Jesus calls everyone of His Children to take upon themselves, is easy and His burden is light.  (Matthew 11:28-30).    Those who have never felt that duty that God lays upon every one of His born-again flock, may have come close to the kingdom, but you must die to that old self and live daily and obediently for Christ. You know whether of not you are saved, because obedience to all that He commanded will be manifest in your daily life. You know, so make sure you if He comes while you are reading this lesson, you will go back to heaven with Him.

Until next time,

may God bless and keep you
