Bible Lesson 3

Last lesson we learned that every one of us is born with Adam’s sin nature, and as a result of that; and our love of sin we deserve to die and go to hell for eternity. Now, some will read that and say to themselves, that is not a loving way to speak to someone, and if I were saying it to hurt your feelings or to make you mad, you would be right.

However I am only telling you what God has said and whether or not we like to believe it we all need some “straight talk” concerning the truth. All of us like to feel that we are alright as long as we come within the cultural morality of our day; but the culture is outside true morality.

Our society knows not much about morality and it is evidenced by our carefree attitude about marriage, abortion, and just plain good manners.

The institutional church of our day has left the Word of God in favor of words that will not wound and truths that will not heal. We practice more political correctness than most of our politicians. We nurture sin and iniquity in our midst instead of confronting sin and sinners and taking the time to show them the good paths of the Lord.

With that said perhaps we need to begin our lessons pretty basic, and even take time to explain our terms. Some people in our day like to think that everyone is going to end up in heaven. Everyone is loved of God and everyone is alright…. just some of us have “problems” that cause us to be drunks or drug-addicts, or murderers, or streetwalkers or homosexuals.

Let me be clear on the front end, all of that is more than a problem; because it is all sin and God hates all sin and the Bible says that “God is angry with sinners (the wicked) everyday”, Psalms 7:11.

Now, I have said all of that to impress on everyone that man does not dictate the terms to God, God has already set the terms and the only way we can know them is to read and study and apply the Bible to our lives. Will God ever change his mind about man and sin?

God has said in Malachi 3:6 that He would not change, so we can forget God ever changing in any way. God says in Psalms 9:17,” the wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”

That is all carved in stone, so what we must see about God is that God is a loving God and a merciful and gracious God who has made the only way that any man will ever be saved and inherit heaven. God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to be nailed to a cruel cross where he shed his precious blood that is sufficient to cleanse us from our sin.

All that God requires of us that we exercise the faith that he produces in us when we hear the truth of his word. Our faith must be focused on God’s only begotten son Jesus Christ; and we must truly believe that what Christ did for us on Calvary is sufficient for our redemption.

A belief that strong is what God sees to begin regeneration and repentance and conversion of our body, mind and soul. We are recreated “in Christ” unto good works. Ephesians 2:10. We are created and come forth as new creatures, with the old things passed away and all things being new. 2 Cor.5: 17

Haven’t you ever desired to have a second change at living your life? This is that chance; and the reward for living for Jesus Christ is adoption into the family of God and heaven for eternity.

Until next time,

may God bless and keep you
