Bible Lesson 43

Facing Biblical Truths

Learning is not always easy and there are times that we who are called to preach the absolutes of the Word of God are constrained to preach and teach messages that are not socially and culturally tasteful. I speak, not of my or any other called man of God, unwillingness to preach what God has taught in His Word. With that said our subject for today is one that has been bandied about in our society, in our government, and many of our churches, and that is what God has to say about the sin of homosexuality. First, what is homosexuality? Let’s take what our dictionary has to say about it.

My American Heritage dictionary says this about homosexuality, first, the dictionary says that it means “sexual desires for others of one’s own sex and second sexual activity with another of the same sex. That means that homosexuality occurs in both sexes.

What does the Bible teach us about homosexuality? I think that we need to start at the beginning of mankind, in the Garden of Eden, where God made Adam from the dust of the earth, and then took Eve from his side as a helpmate for Adam. God made them equal but with a diversity that would enable them to have children and replenish the earth. God then took Eve and gave her to Adam to complete his abilities to populate the earth.

She was to be a help-meet, or helpmate, someone who would make Adam what God had intended him to be, and that was the Federal head of the human race. God enlightens us further in Leviticus 18:22, and says, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination”.
Abomination is translated to mean it is abhorrent to God, it is unlawful and is seen as idolatry, and Revelation 21:27 says that those who commit abomination are forbidden to enter the Holy City.

Leviticus chapter 20 and verse 13 give us the penalty for violating the Mosaic Law about a man lying with a man and it says that both men who engage in homosexuality were to be put to death.

That is the long and the short of the problem, but we won’t stop there because this is a problem that won’t seem to go away and so we want to deal with it until everyone understands what God has said. Up until the 1980’s, this was not so much of a problem because those who chose the homosexual lifestyle knew how aberrant it was to God and man and so they kept it undercover.

That all changed when the church stopped preaching what God had to say about it and the society now wants to make it mandatory for everyone to not just accept but to applaud it.

The Homosexual network even redressed the sin of a man having sex with a man or woman having sex with a woman, they began to call themselves “gay”, but that won’t work because when you finish reading this lesson, you won’t ever believe that what they do has anything to do with being gay.

Does the Bible have anything to say about gay, does it use the word, gay? Yes, the old King James version translated verse 3 of chapter 2 of the book of James, to read “and ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, sit thou here in a good place?..”

Most other translations read instead of gay, they read fine, splendid, or well-dressed. The Bible does not ever speak of any kind of Sodomy that it is in any way gay. God demonstrated a preview of hell on the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah when He burned them up with fire and brimstone from heaven because they were homosexual. (See Genesis 19:1-11; 27-29). I feel obligated to inform you that if you are easily embarrassed, you may need to stop right here; because I am going to do what most preachers and teachers do not do. After all, we don’t let people know that we know how crude and downright evil homosexuality is.

Apparently, most don’t understand what takes place in a homosexual relationship. As hateful as it is, may I remind you all that homosexuals practice anal intercourse. Think about that and ask yourself, if perhaps, our stand against homosexuality should not be stronger. There is nothing that even hints of love or respect or even human consideration in homosexuality. Homosexuality is if we really consider it and what it involves is simply one man having anal sex with another man. I believe that we have bought into the homosexual slick advertisement campaigns and we have thought to our selves that our politicians even march in their parades, so homosexuality must not be too bad.

The fact is that those who pander to this abomination to God, are not good, but rather worse than bad. Does homosexuality even serve any purpose for those who practice it? Well, it depends on what you mean when you say serve a purpose. The facts are that the dread disease AIDS is a product of the homosexual lifestyle. You can argue with that if you want to; but 85% of all AID’s cases can be traced directly to homosexual relationships, and the other 15% are from blood transfusions, contact with infected needles that served homosexuals, babies born to AID’s mothers and the like.

The plague of AID’s is a baby born of the abominable practice of homosexuality, and they have laid it on the doorstep of the American taxpayer and it has cost this country untold billions of dollars. So, what can we do about it? First and foremost we can do our Christian duty and tell those who have been snared by this terrible sin of homosexuality, that there is hope for breaking the chains of this sin and coming into right standing before God. Homosexuality is a sin just like every other thing that people do that transgresses the Holiness of God. I have heard this little “ditty” that people use to take the pressure off of Sodomy, and frankly, I don’t buy it because the Bible teaches differently.

You know what I’m talking about, this thing that says ” all sin is the same in the eyes of God, one sin is the same as the other, and Homosexuality is no different”! Hogwash! Read your Bible and you will find back there in Genesis chapter 19 that God sent two angels into Sodom and Gomorrah to take Lot and his family out of that city because God had decided to destroy the cities of the plain because they were homosexuals. God hates sin but God has a special distaste for those sins that demean his creatures, and if homosexuality is not distasteful, I don’t know what is. God sent two angels to bring Lot, who was the nephew of Abraham, out of Sodom, so that He could destroy it.

He did not send angels to preach the gospel, He sent them to remove Lot and his family so that God could burn them up. I do not find any other city that was judged, in time, for any other sin. Certainly, I am not attempting to say that every sin does not carry consequence, but what I am saying is that God chose to apply radical punishment for Sodom’s rampant homosexuality.

For you who would argue that that is Old Testament scripture, I would remind you that “all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works”, (2nd Timothy 3:16-17).

But beyond that, the admonition against homosexuality is brought forward into the New Testament in many places, and one of the places is in Jude, verses 7 and 8, that reminds us that “even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities”. That is exactly what we see from the homosexual network in our day. They have given themselves over to fornication, in this case, the excessive indulgence of illicit sex.

They were going after strange flesh, which is exactly what homosexuals do. There is a warning here as there is throughout the Bible, that God will always judge sin and Jude verse 5 puts us in mind to remember that as Jude (one of the half-brothers of Jesus Christ), says, “I will, therefore, put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believe not.

We need to be reminded that God does not change. We, as human beings, think that we change and that our culture changes but in essence, that is not true. Certainly, we wear different styles of clothes and we have new and novel appliances and so forth that our forefathers did not have but we have not changed. We are stillborn depraved, with Adam’s sin nature and we love to sin, so the argument that our culture has changed is spurious.

Even if our culture could change our God will never change. God is still God and will always be God: we are all born into this world under the Wrath of our Sovereign and we all have to be changed by God. The homosexual is not different than other sinners in that respect and it is no big thing for God to save a homosexual if the homosexual desires to be saved, and can commit and submit to the love and mercy of God.

Are homosexuals born “that way”? I do not believe that they are and even if they were born that way, God has put their chosen lifestyle out of bounds. God has said that they were not to practice that kind of lifestyle. God said no, but we as stiff-necked sinners have decided that we not only accept homosexuality, we want them to represent us in the government. Take for instance the governor of New Jersey (McGreevey) who has come out of the closet, and announced to the utter surprise of his wife of several years, that he is a queer.

That seems to be a real problem on the east coast because the governor of New York has recently had to step down from his job because of sexual sin, and the man who replaced him has “after” being sworn in as governor, admitted to serial adulteries along with his wife admitting the same.

We have in Washington several sitting legislators who are avowed practicing homosexuals. Barney Franks, and Larry Craig. Incidentally, several years ago my home-state elected a homosexual to the U.S. House, named John Henson. Should the fact that the American people have begun to elect homosexuals to public office, make us comfortable with that abomination?

Absolutely not! It should make us all the more determined to warn those who fall into that devil?s trap about their coming judgment. It does not matter how we “feel” about homosexuality, or even if there happens to be someone near and dear to us who has chosen that lifestyle, God said it was an abomination and that is that. What we as Christians have to do is to stand on God’s word, while at the same time we hold out the possibility of forgiveness and God’s mercy.

We cannot offer salvation to a practicing homosexual, salvation always results in a turning away from and disavowal of all sin. There will be no practicing homosexuals in heaven, and there will be no practicing adulterers in heaven just as there will be no sinners in heaven at all. It takes the applied blood of the sinless Son of God, Jesus Christ to remit our sins.

So our advice to any sinner should be, humble yourself, pray and plead with God to save you. To show you how arrogant these people (homosexuals) are, let me tell you that they have even devised what they call a church of their own, the universal fellowship of the metropolitan community church.

It is not in any sense a Christian church, but it provides some kind of shelter for these who are anti-Christ, yet want to appear religious. We who are true Christians, born again, in Christ and obedient never fear that sinners will ever change anything that God has decreed; we have read the end of the Bible and we know that God will sweep us into glory when this world comes to an end. Our concern here today is to advise those who have been so taught and have accepted the devil?s lie, that says homosexuality is proper and good, that there is hope.

That hope exists only in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This lesson may sound uncompassionate, and intolerant and unloving and if you receive it that way, then I am sorry; however, no man, including homosexuals will ever know the love of God until they have dealt with the wrath of God against their sin. Come to your senses today, if you are snared in a relationship that is homosexual, seek the face of God; because He can and will forgive all repented sin.

For you who have chosen to accept and condone by not speaking out against all sin, especially homosexuality, I pray that you will remind yourselves that God has said that homosexuality is a sin, an abomination to God, and stand up and speak out and protect your families from being involved in any sin. Probably the greatest blow to American youth occurred during the 1990’s, when we had a president who disgraced himself, his family, and America by committing sodomy in the white house.

The young people from those years were taught a devastating lesson about sex. Sex is a gift of God to newlyweds. It is not only permissible, but it is also beautiful and serves the ultimate purpose of God, to procreate and replenish the world. Sadly, many have been guilty of using sex in a way that God has not allowed, and in so doing we have placed a blight on sex.

Sex has become a commodity that is traded in the market places of our country, and those, who have sex outside God-sanctioned ways, in the bond of matrimony, are simply consumers of sex, much like those who consume alcohol, tobacco, and drugs. Shame on us for being so gullible, that we have chosen raw rebellion rather than to serve and obey the Creator God.

We are guilty of allowing the public schools in many cases to teach our babies (beginning in the first grade), about transsexualism, homosexuality, cross-dressing, and we have not said a word or taken a positive stand against it. That can mean only one thing and that is that we are either uncaring about our children or we do not intend to be obedient to God.

Now, I want to be sure that I have proven my point concerning homosexuality, so please allow me to list the Biblical verses where you will find homosexuality displayed and you will note that it is never recommended, always warned against. In Deuteronomy 23:17, you will find that harlots and perverts were not allowed in the chosen nation Israel.

In the book of Judges chapter 19:22- 20:48 you will find perverts who when they could not rape one of the Levites, raped and killed his concubine, which caused a war in Israel. 1st Kings chapter 15 tells us about Asa, King of Judah, and the Bible tells us that Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. What he did was to banish the perverted persons (sodomites and religious prostitutes) out of the land. (1st Kings 15:11-12).

Then in 1st Kings chapter 22 and verse 46, we find that a descendant of Asa who became King routed the rest of the perverted people from the land. In Second Kings chapter 23, we find Josiah, another King of Judah, who in verse 7 of chapter 23, tore down the ritual booths of the perverted persons.

Now, we will shift gears and come forward into the New Testament. In the book of Romans chapter 1:21-32 we find the chilling account of men who could not help but see the handiwork of God, yet they professed themselves wise when God called them fools. Then we notice beginning at verse 24, the downward spiral of human beings who abandon the God of Creation. If a man insists on “going it alone” and abandons God, then God abandons man.

God gives them up or turns them over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh. These seem to be the people who chose to follow the homosexual lifestyle. Verse 28 says that God gave them over to a debased mind and that speaks of the mind of the homosexual, they become backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful??..and they do things that are deserving of death. That last verse there, verse 32 seems to be saying that people who approve of this abomination of homosexuality, deserve the same as those who practice it. So, be very careful about what you cozy up to!!

First Corinthians 6:9-10 gives us a list of people who will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven, and that list includes fornicators, adulterers, homosexuals, and sodomites, among others. First Timothy 1:9-10, tells us that the law was written for the unrighteous, and it lists among others the lawless and insubordinate, the ungodly and sinners, and then in verse 10, we find fornicators, sodomites, kidnappers, liars, and others.

Finally, in 2nd Peter 2:4-7 and Jude verses 7-8, which reminds us that God has demonstrated the punishment of sin, and notice that Sodom and Gomorrah are mentioned in both places. Now, if you get the idea that bro bob believes that homosexuality is an abomination to God you are right. I even go further and say that those who practice homosexuality are filthy people and I hope I never have to eat a hamburger or a salad or anything else that one of these has prepared. They are hell-bound, just as I was before God called me out of this world to be one of His.

I hope that one or more who are caught up in that lifestyle will read this lesson, and turn away from that horrific lifestyle, and I hope several who have known better but kept their silence will wake up and take a stand to save our families.

Until next time,

may God bless and keep you
