Bible Lesson 5

I suppose that what we need to have the Bible teach us this lesson, is that God is Omnipotent, God is Omniscient, and God is Spirit so He can be everywhere at one time. Apparently, many of us have forgotten just who God really is and the extent of His great power.

Quite often we tend to judge God as we would judge another human being; and we have as a result of that we have thought that God is simply some kind of “hoped for” power that exists to give us comfort in time of trouble and a God that will sometime use His power to get us out of jams that we often get ourselves into as we live here on the earth.

What I would have you take away from this lesson is that we who are truly saved, worship and serve a God that is not only powerful, but who is the source of all power. If anyone on this earth has any power at all, he has it because God granted it to him to have. Most of us need to begin at the beginning, so where we must begin with God, is to know and believe that

My question is, why would we want to worship an impotent God? If God cannot cause those whom He saves to live a life that will glorify God, how can we say that we do not present Him as an impotent God?

The good news is my friends, that God is not impotent, He is omnipotent, which means that he is the source of all power. God can and does, impart a power in every salvation experience, that is the key to living a life of victory over sin. The problem has been that preaching a God like that takes too much time and effort for so many who call themselves men of God today.

God has dealt with sin in the blood of Jesus Christ; and He has dealt with the flesh of those whom He saves, by the cross. The old man was crucified with Christ, and the Bible says that the old man is “dead”. Romans 6:3-12. Ephesians 2:10 says that God creates a new creature in salvation and that the new creature walks in newness of life.

2 Cor. 5:17 tells us that if any man has been truly saved, created in Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:10), he is a “ew creature”, the old things have passed away and all things are new. That?s the kind of God that we serve. We who know Him in the forgiveness of sin and obey his commands by the power that is of God, the Holy Spirit, are adopted into his family and we become co-inheritors with Christ.

We said before that the truly saved person is indwelled by the Spirit of God…..that means that God Himself indwells us and give us the not only the energy and power to obey Him; but He also gives us a mind that wants to do nothing else but obey Him.

I’m going to ask you to do something that you are not often asked to do; however it is something that will prepare you to meet God in His glory, if you will truly undertake to gain the knowledge of God. I want to ask you to take time to read and study Romans chapters 6,7, and 8. Study those scripture and you will begin to see the power of God displayed and perhaps God will call you to Himself, through His Son Jesus Christ. Remember “faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.?

God is God; and we are not! Jehovah God is the creator of all that we know, he created all the universes and galaxies and people and systems and plants and animals that exist by simply “saying “, let it be. God creates all life and we must know Him as the Creator, and ourselves as the creatures that God created.

We are fickle people and we all need to understand that many times we don’t make very good sense. Think about this, most people today would say that God,did indeed, create all that we know; and they would give God credit for miracles and for our daily provisions, they even say that God does save those who are saved; but they have trouble with God being in complete control of their finite lives.

Think about how infinite God is and how much glory and grace He has, and then ask yourself, how powerful are you. You cannot grow hair on a bald head, you cannot bring the dead back to life and you cannot even add one inch to your statue; if we think in those terms, God is great and we are not, God is strong and we are weak, so we need to bow before Him as we seek His face and His favor; and we ask Him to begin our salvation.

Until next time,

may God bless and keep you
