Bible Lesson 9

In this lesson, we want to continue in our quest to portray true Christianity. We are not interested in simply teaching you how to look like a Christian; our deepest desire is to point you to the truth which will set you free.

We love you enough to ask you to look at your life in the light of the word of God, the Bible, and then to obey what you find to be lacking in your life. The true Christian does not have to wonder if they are saved, they have the assurance of the Holy Spirit and the word of God. (1 John 5: 13).

We walk and talk and live like, that “new creature” that was raised up when God creates us anew in his son Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:10; 2 cor.5:17) always feel free to down load these lessons and keep them to refer to as you study your Bible to prove them to yourselves.

Today I would ask you to exercise your Christianity as you answer for yourself the following requests.

  1. In your own words, define saving faith.
  2. What Bible verse would you use to support your definition?
  3. Describe your condition before your salvation.
  4. Describe your condition after you were saved by grace, through faith.
  5. What do we mean when we speak of being “in Christ”?

Today we want to remind ourselves, so that we can remind others, that salvation is the one most critical issue that anyone born into this world can consider. We need to understand that Jesus Christ preached while here on the earth; and we know that he said that everyone, as they live on this earth, would encounter two gates, two ways, and two destinations for eternity.

One is a narrow gate; and the other is that broad way that leads to destruction or to eternal condemnation in the literal flames of hell, where the worm never turns and the fire is never quenched (Matthew 7:13).

The narrow gate represents Jesus Christ, and it leads to eternal life in heaven with Christ our king, where there is total perfection in everything. (No crippled limbs, no blind eyes, no cancer or aids or any other disease. where there will be no sorrow or tears, just perfect bliss (revelation 21:4).

Te broad gate represents Satan, and leads to perfect condemnation and eternal dying without Christ, in a place of darkness, where the flesh will be tormented with out end, in literal flames and condemnation without God.

Christ came to the earth for several reasons, his main mission was to place himself, where those who are elect should have been nailed (the cross) and to shed his blood for their redemption; however he came to a people who had been guilty of thinking that they could take the word of God and change it, or redefine it, or ignore it; and do what they wanted to do; and He came to show them and warn them that not a jot, nor a tittle (the smallest Hebrew pen stroke) would ever pass away from the Word of God. (Matthew 5:17-18), in other words Jesus preached and told them, and us, that the Word of God was not given to man to change it in to suit their desires.

The Word was given to convict and convince lost men to change their ways in order to be fit for heaven. The Word of God will change men dramatically from inside out. We are saved by Grace through Faith (Ephesians 2:8-9) and Faith comes from knowing and understanding the Word of God. (Romans 10:17). Salvation is a work of God, it is not of man, because man could or would never move toward God, unless God first began the work of regeneration. Salvation is not a choice that man makes it is a supernatural marvel of God. (Ephesians 2:1-6). Salvation involves a death and a birth, in which, the old man of the flesh is put to death with Christ (Romans 6:6-7) and then God raises up a New Creation (Ephesians 2:10)

This new creature “in Christ” is a creature that is inhabited by the Holy Spirit, and he is led by the power of God. (2nd Cor. 5:17). This New Creature is immediately responsive to the Spirit of God and he reflects the Holiness of Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 12:14; 2nd Cor. 7:1; Ephesians 4:22-24; Titus 2:11-12). The thing that we must do to please God is to set aside religion and gain the image of Christ as we follow the Makers operating procedures (The Bible); and follow in His footsteps. Salvation is best evidenced by obedience to the Word and Will of God.(John 14:21-24).

The ball is now in your court. Will you neglect so great salvation? Will you give up eternal bliss and beauty for the few moments that sinners gain from Satan as they live here on the earth. I hope not. I pray that many will begin to think seriously and read the Word of God and when they read it apply it to their lives as they walk to please God.

Until next time,

may God bless and keep you
